CHAPTER HISTORY
Omicron Psi Omega Chapter was the vision of 15 members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® wanting to serve the Davidson County area through the sorority's national programs. Charter members Alvaretta Bryson, Effie Bush, Beverly Craven, Katrina Craven, Jessie Crump, Rithia Ford, Frances Hargrave, Lavonia Henderson, Julia England, Donna Moore, Naomi Morrison, Sherri Rushing, Loretta Simon, Linda Terry and Vickie Weathers saw this vision become reality on June 8, 1985, when the chapter was established in Davidson County, NC.

Since then, the Omicron Psi Omega Chapter has served the community tirelessly empowered by the international programs, and targets of Alpha Kappa Alpha. Numerous events and activities have been held to promote these efforts including Fashionettas, movie premieres, Rock-Away Revues, a Mardi Gras, a Pink Masquerade Ball, Applebee’s Flapjack and Zaxby’s fundraisers, as well as partnerships with area hospitals and Lexington and Thomasville city schools.
In 2016 and 2017, bi-annual signature events were implemented which include:
The Big Hat Brunch and the Little Miss AKA Pageant.
As the Omicron Psi Omega Chapter continues to grow and expand, its members look
forward to being of service to all mankind locally and globally!
